Der Petunienmann von Metaluna Vier wurde ursprünglich am 28.2.1978 von Bellerophon Records gesignt. Ein Faksimile des Vertrages ist übrigens auf der Bellerophon-Records Webseite abgebildet. Am 9. Oktober 1978 veröffentlichte dPvM4 dann seine ersten Aufnahmen, und zwar ausschließlich als MusiCassette.

Dieses Band galt lange als verschollen, wurde aber nun von einem Stockhausen-Schüler nahe der Autobahnraststätte Bad Pyrmont nahezu unversehrt im Torf gefunden. Dem dPvM4 wurde dieses Original dann über einen sich auf der Durchreise befindenden schwedischen Dealer zugespielt. Einzige Maßgabe: Die Tracks nunmehr erneut zu veröffentlichen. Nach fast 35 Jahren sind diese Kompositionen nun wieder einem größeren Publikum zugänglich. Die 4 Stücke umfassende Tetralogie wird ergänzt durch einen damals verworfenen Kurz-Track, welcher seinerzeit nach Ansicht von dPvM4 die elektro-akustische Balance störte.
